The data for all of our county’s markers can be found on the Texas Historical Commission’s atlas at https://atlas.thc.state.us.  Enter the county name (Wharton) and click on the options you’re interested in (such as just historical markers), deleting the others.  When you click on Submit you’ll be able to see all our historic properties.

From the FM 2764 sign south across the railroad 100 feet then a quick zigzag southeast on CR .2 mile. Continue on CR 262 .25 mile to the cemetery

  • Heard Cemetery, Egypt. Located on the west side of FM 102 near CR 257. From Wharton, take FM 102 to Egypt.  Just past FM 1161, turn left on CR 257. About X feet on the left is a sign reading, “Wharton County Historical Museum Research Site.” This marks the entrance to the road to the cemetery and the marker location.
